THANK YOU
The week before holiday break was a fun filled time with events for all ages.  We are so thankful for the extra efforts from students, staff and parents that helped make this first holiday season a success.  Some highlights:

  • School-wide sing-along
  • Special craft and foods in classrooms
  • Grades 4-7 recess and lunch dances
  • Food drive donations
  • PAC Christmas celebration night
  • Visits from Santa
  • Kindergarten performances
  • Classroom parties
  • Holiday hat day
  • And lots more

INDOOR SHOE SAFETY
All parents are reminded that students should have indoor shoes at school.  For safety reasons, we expect all students to remove their outdoor shoes and boots to keep the floors as dry as possible.  With this in mind, it is important for students to have indoor shoes to keep their feet dry and safe in case we have a drill.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Looking for parent volunteers!  Throughout the month of December and into early January, Mrs. McLachlan, parent volunteers, and Leadership Kids have been organizing and providing games for
students in Kindergarten to grade 3 at recess and lunch in the HPES Multipurpose Room.  Ideally, we would like two parent volunteers for each recess and lunch time slot.  Right now, we are looking for extra parents to assist at lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and recess on Tuesdays.  The Leadership Kids are extremely supportive with each session, as well as Mrs. McLachlan will assist you with games/ideas.  We need you!  If you are interested, please contact Mrs. McLachlan at Heather Park Elementary School or contact the PAC as soon as possible.  Thank you.

SPRUCE KINGS CHEER OFF
On Friday, January 14th, all Heather Park students are invited to the Prince George Coliseum to cheer on the Spruce Kings and show their school spirit.  Tickets to the game went home with students last week and today. The Spruce Kings have also provided adult VIP tickets for parents willing to attend the game and bring their kids.  These tickets will be available at the office on a first come, first serve basis (2 per parent). Please come out and have some fun and show that Heather Park rocks!!

SCHOOL TOURS FOR PARENTS
Mr Fleck and Mr Watt will conduct tours for parents interested in seeing our school in action.  This may be of special interest to parents considering bringing their children here for French Immersion. Tours will take place at 11:00 AM on Mondays and Wednesday on the following days in January: 17, 19, 24, 26 and 31. Please contact Bev Schreiner in our office to book a tour

BASKETBALL STARTS TODAY
There will be a meeting after school for grade 6/7 basketball players.  Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays after school from 2:45 to 3:30.
We still need parent coaches and helpers.  Mr Fleck will be running this program, but more adults are needed to ensure success. We will host a basketball tournament here in February 11th for schools around the city.
