SCHOOL GROUNDS
We would like parents to know that the school district property maintenance department has taken temporary measures to fill the cracks formed by soil erosion on the back hills behind out school.
L&M Engineering is advising the district on ways to address the soil problems, as well as concerns about where to develop zones for student play. When there are options brought forward by the
engineering firm, we will make them available to the public for input.
HOCKEY ACADEMY
We are still accepting applications for Grade 4 – 7’s for next September. Applications are in the office or contact Bev Schreiner at 250-962-1811 or bschreiner@sd57.bc.ca.
POOL PARTIES A GREAT SUCCESS
Children, staff and lots of parents had great time celebrating positive behaviour and good work habits.  The students who attended were very well behaved.  On both trips pool staff and community members took time to remark the way our students acted in the pool and change rooms.  Congratulations to all who participated, and thanks to all the parents who helped make the event a great success.
GRADE 1 FRENCH IMMERSION
It is still possible for kindergarten students to transfer into French Immersion in the grade one year.  French Immersion is a great program that  provides numerous educational benefits to students and families.  For more information, please contact Mr. Fleck in our office.
PEDESTRIAN AND VEHICLE TRAFFIC REVIEW
L&M Engineering has provided the district and our school with a DRAFT plan to improve the flow of traffic and increase the overall safety for people coming to and from our school.   On Thursday, May 19, Terry Fjellstrom, P. Eng of L&M Engineering will be at Heather Park to meet with parents to explain the details of the plan and collect feedback from parents.  Childcare will be provided for anyone who would like to attend, but needs help with children.

CANCER FUND RAISING
Between our Pie or be Pied and Primary Seeds programs, Heather Park students helped raise $951.00.  Special thanks go out to Mrs. McGraw for her efforts on this important program.
