Carnaval Day is Friday. February 24 at Heather Park Elementary School. The Carnaval mascot, Bonhomme Bonhomme, will start the day at the morning celebration assembly .
The Duchess Park jazz band will at the school all day and play on the multipurpose stage.
Activities will include arts and crafts, music and folk dance and outdoor events such as ‘canoe races’ and snowshoeing.
Fruit & Veggie Day
Grape Tomatoes will be distributed to students on Tuesday, February 28.
Canucks Raffle Draw
The draw for the grand prize in the PAC fund raising raffle will be held on Wednesday, February 29.
The grand prize is trip for four to Vancouver via Westjet to see the Canucks vs Calgary game on March 31 including two nights at the Sandman in Vancouver.
Pizza Day for upstairs students will be Friday, March 2 and the next pizza day for downstairs students will be Friday, March 17.
Pizza is $2 per slice and the students will have a choice of Pepperoni, Cheese or Hawaiian pizza.
Duchess Park Parent Information Night
The DPSS information night for parents of students in Grade 7 who will be moving on to Duchess Park next year will be on Wednesday, March 7 at 7:00 pm in the DPSS Theatre.
General PAC Meeting
The next general PAC meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 14 at 7:00 pm in the computer room beside the library. Note that this is the week ahead of the regularly scheduled date because of spring break.
Childcare will be available and all parents and guardians of students enrolled in Heather Park are encouraged to attend.
Fund-raising Raffle Tickets
As of last week we had collected approximately 440 books of sold tickets and $8,800.
That leaves about 260 books of tickets still out there. We sent reminder notes home on Thursday with each student who still had a book signed out to them so we are hoping that those books will be returned soon.
We still have a long waiting list of students who want more tickets to sell so if your child has tickets that they will not be able to sell, we ask that they return them to the school as soon as possible.
Any unsold tickets returned this week will be redistributed to students on the waiting list.
Our goal is to have all the tickets sold by this Friday, February 24.
If you would like to make a direct donation to the Playground Improvement Project, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. All donations will go directly to the Playground Improvement Project and donations of $25 or more will receive a tax receipt.
