The next general PAC meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 20 at 7 pm in the computer room beside the library.
Childcare will be available and all parents and guardians of students enrolled in Heather Park, including parents of Strong Start students, are encouraged to attend. This is your opportunity to get involved with your school community.
We will be electing people to the following executive positions:
- Volunteer Coordinator
- Communications Coordinator
Please contact the PAC if you have any questions or would like to discuss any of these positions.
Survive Outside Program
The Hart Community Association is organizing a one day outdoor survival course on Friday June 1 from 7:30 pm to 9 pm at Heather Park Elementary. Cost is $30 per family (3-5 family members) or $10 per individual. The course is for people ages 13 and up.
This course focuses on trip planning and basic outdoor survival considerations for families heading into the outdoors on day trips or multi-day hiking/camping trips. We will cover the 10 Essentials (items that everyone should have with them), the trip plan, the code of responsibility for the outdoors, as well as provide awareness of search and rescue’s roles and responsibilities if they are needed. If it is a nice evening we will spend 30-45 minutes outside exploring different survival skills.

DPAC is hosting a FoodSafe course for PAC volunteers on Saturday, June 16 from 7:45 am to 5 pm, at the Van Bien Training Centre. The course will be run by ABC FoodSafe, and a book and certificate will be provided for each participant. The cost is $17 per person but the Heather Park PAC will reimburse the cost for PAC members who volunteer at school events.
FoodSafe graduates are registered with the B.C. Ministry of Health and will receive a FoodSafe certificate so bring your CareCard number.

The playground enhancement project has now been approved by the Ed Services Committee. The School Board still needs to approve the plan and there are a few more steps to complete but look for construction to start sometime over the summer.
We still need volunteers for upcoming events. If you can help out please email Lisa Neukomn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
