Thank you to students, families, and staff for making our Open House a huge success! It was wonderful to see so many people at the school participating in the passport event, meeting the staff, and visiting the book fair!
Scholastic Book Fair
Thanks to all who supported the Scholastic Book Fair-it was a great success! Thanks to parents who supervised on the day of the fair, to Mr. Laupitz’ students who helped set it up, and to Mrs. Schreiner, Mrs. Lalonde, Mrs. Waycheshen and Mrs. McWhinnie for helping during the Open House.
Most items ordered at the book fair arrived at the school on October 3rd and were distributed to the classrooms. The new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book is not yet published and will be received by students after November 5th. If there are any questions about Book Fair orders, please call Ms. Weisgarber at the school library.
Thank you and congratulations to all students who participated in the Top of the World Cross Country Run at École Heather Park Elementary on September 26th and the Over the Edge Run at Edgewood Elementary on October 3rd. You did a great job representing our school at both events!
Explorations will begin on October 15th for all students in Grades 4-7. This will be an exciting new program at Heather Park and we look forward to its kick off. Special thanks go out to the Prince George Sewing Centre for donating the material required for one of our courses!
An important information letter will be going home today explaining more about this new program.
Clothing at School
Please remember to check the lost and found at school as there are several items piling up in there. It is located in the PAC corner by the Multi Purpose Room. With the colder weather students are reminded to dress for the weather (hats, mitts, coats, etc.). Please note that if students have a sweatshirt that has a face mask in it, the face mask should not be done up while at school.
Heather Park Spirit Wear
The PAC will be taking orders for t-shirts, hoodies and toques printed with Heather Park logos until October 18. This is a great way to show school spirit. Parents are encouraged to order online at our website www.heatherparkpac.info/store. For those who prefer to pay by cash or cheque, paper forms will be sent home with students this week. This is the only chance to order items for the 2013/14 school year.
The PAC will also be collecting gently used Heather Park t-shirts to distribute as needed. If you wish to donate your good condition items, please ask your child to bring them to their classroom’s PAC bag.
Bus Loop Guidelines
For the safety of our students, we would like to remind all parents that there is absolutely no parking or driving through our bus loop permitted during school hours. Parents may park on the road or in our designated parking lot near the gym. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation with this important safety guideline.
Parking Lot Guidelines
The parking lot near the bus loop is a designated staff parking lot. We respectfully ask that parents not use this area for picking up or dropping off their children. This may be done in the larger parking lot near the gym or near the sidewalk area on Heather Park Road in front of the school. Please note that handicapped zones in all parking lots are only for those who have a handicapped sign clearly indicated in their vehicle. It also remains important to ensure private driveways are not blocked off while students are being dropped off.
Family Movie Night
A Family Movie Night will take place at Heather Park Elementary on Friday October 18th. The movie will be Despicable Me 2. Doors Open at 6:30pm and the movie begins at 7:00 pm. Admission is by donation. This event is being organized by the Heather Park Community and all proceeds will go to the Saulters Family to support their fight with pediatric Cancer.
