School Planning Council
We are still looking for parents interested in participating on next year’s school planning council. Elections will be held at the general PAC meeting on January 18.

What is a School Planning Council?
The purpose of a School Planning Council (SPC) is to formally acknowledge the importance of parent involvement in improving student achievement in our schools. SPCs are part of the Ministry of Education’s Accountability Framework that was created to focus attention and resources on improving the achievement of all students.

In consultation with the school community, the role of an SPC is to prepare a school plan (set goals) for improving student achievement in the school and for other matters contained in the school board’s accountability contract relating to the school. This is a very different role from that of a Parent Advisory Council.

The school plan for the previous year can be found here.

Three representatives to the school planning council (SPC) must be elected annually from the PAC. SPC reps must be a parent/guardian of a student enrolled in the school, and one rep must be an elected officer of the PAC. SPC reps cannot be employees or elected officials of any school board or the Ministry of Education.
